North American LGBTQ+ streamer OUTtv has commissioned Novelette Is Trying, a new scripted series, while also renewing five shows for additional seasons.

Novelette Is Trying is a 10 x 10-minute drama series following Novelette, a queer, anti-social Black woman. After she is dumped by her partner, Novelette takes in a quirky roommate which forces her to confront the lack of purpose, love and connection in her life. The series is produced by Novelette is Trying Productions.

Philip Webb, COO of OUTtv, said: “Across our slate, we’re looking to offer content that spotlights and celebrates the multifaceted experiences of the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re delighted to be adding Novelette Is Trying – a drama series that presents a relatable and touching story we know viewers around the world will resonate with.”

Returning shows includes Two Brothers, which is backed for an 8 x 10-minute second season from Meikle Productions; and short form series We Three Queens, which also returns for a second run of 5 x 5-minute episodes.

OUTtv is also bringing back My Drag Is Valid (10 x 30-minutes) for a second season from Treyfid Rose Productions; Good Grief (6 x 15-minutes) from Pumpkin Patch Productions; and Killjoy Comedy (6 x 20-minutes) for a second season.

“Our raft of renewals is testament to the success of our content across our slate, which have built loyal audiences, from dramas and dramedies to documentaries, and we’re looking forward to working with our production partners on these new installments,” added Webb.
