The Young Pope producer The Mediapro Studio has hired Berlanti Productions alum Erika Kennair and Spoke Studios’ Pam Healey to leads its English-language content push.
Kennair will serve as head of scripted content at the Spanish firm, while Healey becomes head of unscripted, with both reporting to JC Acosta, the former Paramount exec who was recently appointed as North American head of the company, which is also behind The Good Boss, Official Competition, The Head and The New Pope.
In her new role, Kennair will oversee the creative development and production of new scripted content across all genres, working collaboratively with creative talent.
She joins from Extracurricular, Malala Yousafzai’s firm, where she served as president and oversaw projects such as Stranger At The Gate and the Apple TV+ documentary The Last Of The Sea Women.
Previously, Kennair served as SVP of development at Berlanti Productions where she oversaw the procurement and development of new scripted and unscripted series. She produced The Flight Attendant for HBO Max; You for Netflix; the docuseries Helter Skelter for Epix; and Prodigal Son for Fox.
Healey, meanwhile, will oversee the development and production of new unscripted content, focusing on entertainment formats and docuseries.
She most recently served as president of Wheelhouse Entertainment’s Spoke Studios, where she led all creative efforts and growth strategies for the company. While there, she was part of the producing team for Who Do You Think You Are?, while past executive roles include general manager at Warner Bros’ Shed Media and EVP at High Noon Entertainment.
Kennair and Healey’s appointments come as Acosta sets out his North American leadership team, which will see the duo working alongside new hires Ari Tan as head of strategy and operations and Robert Haiat as head of commercial in Los Angeles.
Additionally, Leslie Cohen, head of global acquisitions, and Juan Pablo Santos, SVP of content and business development, both based in New York, join the new leadership team.
“I’m honored to welcome these six exceptional executives to The Mediapro Studio US/Canada leadership team,” said Acosta. “Their long experience, creative acumen, expertise, and vast network of talent and studio relationship make them ideal leaders to ensure that we deliver on our ambitious strategy.”
