Fremantle confirms Mark Reynolds as global head of documentaries
Fremantle has appointed former BBC Studios exec Mark Reynolds as its new global head of documentaries.
Reynolds joined the company in January 2024 to take on the role on an interim basis, after Mandy Chang stepped down, during which time he has led strategy for its global documentaries unit. He will now formally take on the position, reporting to Andrea Scrosati, group COO and CEO of Continental Europe.
Before joining Fremantle at the start of the year, Reynolds served as a consultant advising producers and platforms on programming, co-production and distribution strategies.
Prior to that, he was unscripted portfolio director at BBC Studios, where he oversaw the company’s creative relationships and IP pipeline for all unscripted genres. Reynolds also had a long career at BBC Worldwide delivering the commercial and content strategy for factual for global distribution.
“Mark has been a key member of the Fremantle family since he joined earlier this year, and I am delighted he has taken this role,” said Scrosati. “With his extensive commercial expertise in the unscripted genre on a global scale, Mark will continue to spearhead our activity in the premium documentary space.”
Fremantle has made a number of strategic investments within the documentary and non-scripted market, and now owns more than 20 documentary labels.
Most recently, it added Beach House Pictures and Asacha Media Group to the stable, following the acquisition of 72 Films, Wildstar Films and Silvio Productions in 2022, as well as the launch of premium documentaries label, Undeniable last year.
