Sky lands five-part action drama ‘Atomic’ from Vice’s Pulse Films
Sky has ordered five-part action drama Atomic from Vice Studios-owned Pulse Films.
The series follows two unlikely friends who become swept up in a cartel’s plot to transport uranium across North Africa and must decide whether to save themselves or risk everything to prevent a nuclear bomb getting into the wrong hands.
It has been inspired by Vanity Fair journalist William Langewiesche’s non-fiction book Atomic Bazaar and is being produced in association with Sky Studios.
Alfie Allen (SAS: Rogue Hereos), Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery) and Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale) star, with Gregory Burke (Rebus, Six Four) attached as writer, with Jiwon Lee, Clare McQuillan and Ishy Din on the writing team.
The series is directed by Shariff Korver and series producer is Peter McAleese. Executive Producers are Jamie Hall and Judy Counihan for Pulse Films, Thomas Benski, Gregory Burke, and Sam Hoyle and Megan Spanjian for Sky Studios.
The show will be available on Sky and streaming service NOW in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution will handle international sales of the series.
Burke said the show explores “the terrifying prospect of a world where nuclear weapons are easier to acquire than ever before and about the infinite possibilities that exist within the best of us and the worst of us.”
