Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has unveiled a raft of shows for CNN including a US version of BBC series Have I Got News For You, as well as a Harry Potter cooking show for Food Network.

The news came out of its Upfront in New York yesterday, with the Have I Got News For You remake coming via Hat Trick Productions. The limited series will premiere this fall and air on Saturday nights on CNN.

“We have been looking for innovative ways to explore new formats and expand the boundaries of CNN programming,” said Amy Entelis, EVP of talent at CNN Originals & creative development for CNN Worldwide.

“The series is the standard bearer of the genre and ripe for its American reincarnation as we revitalise Saturday nights on CNN.”

“To bring Have I Got News For You to such an iconic network as CNN is a great honour and career highlight for us all at Hat Trick,” said executive producer Jimmy Mulville.

CNN is also reviving its CNN Original Series Searching For franchise, which will launch with Eva Longoria: Searching For Spain.

CNN Films, in partnership with OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, will premiere Luther: Never Too Much from director Dawn Porter, while United States Of Scandal With Jake Tapper has been extended into a second season.

Additional CNN Original Series include Breaking Bird: The Rise and Fall of Twitter (w/t) and Lockerbie.

WBD also confirmed an expansion of its Harry Potter empire, with Harry Potter: Wizards Of Baking (working title).

The show will be shot in the UK where the movies were filmed and feature contestants coming up with culinary creations to wow judges.

Warner Horizon and US label The Old School are producing the show, which joins the upcoming Harry Potter scripted series. A quiz show, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournaments of Houses, debuted on TBS in 2021.
