‘Cocomelon’ owner Moonbug hires Ashley Maidy from ‘Arcane’ gaming firm Riot
Cocomelon owner Moonbug Entertainment is looking to expand its consumer products efforts with the hire of Ashley Maidy from Arcane firm Riot Games.
Ashley Maidy becomes managing director of consumer products at the Candle Media-backed kids firm, responsible for expanding the business and overseeing licensing partners for IP including Blippi and aforementioned Cocomelon.
She will report to René Rechtman, founder and CEO of Moonbug, and will also help the company push further into product strategies for its brands across consumer goods, publishing, live events and experiences.
Maidy was most recently global head of consumer products at Riot Games, leading manufacturing, licensing, e-commerce and esports event merchandising sales for brands such as League of Legends, Valorant and Arcane.
She joined Riot following almost a decade at Activision Blizzard, where she led the company’s licensing and partnerships for Call of Duty, Skylanders and Candy Crush.
Prior to Activision, Maidy worked on film and TV shows during stints at Fox Family Worldwide and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
“Consumer products are instrumental to how we engage with fans, as more and more families want to bring the Moonbug stories and characters they love into their daily lives,” said Rechtman.
“Ashley understands how to build deeper connections with fans. It shows in her track record of building global franchises for some of the most iconic games and movies in the past two decades. Her vision and expertise will bring our consumer products offering to the next level.”
