MIPTV wraps up final edition after 61 years with 3,500 attendees
MIPTV is wrapping up its 61st and final edition in Cannes today having attracted more than 3,500 attendees, according to organisers RX France.
The formally titled MIPTV Spring International Television Market in Cannes was attended by 3,537 delegates from 84 countries, RX said, with more than 1,100 buyers registered.
There were 135 exhibitors from 11 countries, while the largest proportion of delegates were from France, followed by (in order) the UK, US, Germany, Spain, Italy, Turkey, China, Canada and Belgium.
RX confirmed last month that the 61st edition of MIPTV would be its last, with a new but separate event set to be rolled out in the UK next year targeting attendees at the London TV Screenings.
RX France also separately announced that the 40th edition of MIPCOM Cannes had been confirmed to take place 21-24 October, while the following year’s dates have been set for 13-16 October 2025.
Lucy Smith, director of MIPTV and MIPCOM Cannes, said: “We’re grateful to the international TV industry across generations, geographies and genres for their support of MIPTV over the last six decades.
“All our energies on the Croisette will now be solely focused on MIPCOM Cannes, and in delivering and growing the flagship international entertainment content market for the industry, starting with the 40th anniversary edition later this year.”
Smith also outlined the approach for MIP London, which will be a “multi-genre” event taking place 24-27 February in London’s West End at the Savoy Hotel and IET London: Savoy Place.
RX France reiterated that the event would differ in scale to MIPTV, adding that it will be “staged as complementary to the existing London TV Screenings” and “aims to meet the growing need for versatile meeting spaces and screening solutions…”
“It’s been hugely exciting to share our plans for MIP London with the international TV community over the last few days,” Smith added. “The feedback has been beyond positive and encouraging and we look forward to sharing more in the coming months.”
