Netflix hires HBO’s SVP of drama series Nora Skinner for Jinny Howe’s team
Netflix has hired HBO’s SVP of drama series, Nora Skinner, to work as part of Jinny Howe’s team.
Skinner had been at HBO since 2015 but is leaving to become VP of drama series under Howe, based out of LA.
She starts at the end of May and will oversee development of ‘prestige’ drama for the global streamer.
Her appointment follows the exit of Kelly Luegenbiehl and Howe’s subsequent promotion in January, which saw the exec upped to oversee all of Netflix’s drama output including current series and shows form overall deals.
Skinner worked on shows such as Succession and The White Lotus at HBO, having joined the network as SVP of drama series from US prodco Indian Paintbrush.
She worked with head of drama Francesca Orsi and had credits on shows ranging from Our Boys to The Watchmen and Mare Of Easttown.
Howe said: “Nora’s stellar reputation and track record speak for themselves. She has impeccable taste and her ability to partner with artists to deliver exquisite prestige dramas is bar none.”
Skinner added: “It has been the privilege of my career to work with Casey [Bloys] and Frannie, the brilliant team at HBO, and the remarkable artists who have inspired me endlessly over the past eight and half years.
“Now, as I embark on this new chapter, I’m thrilled to join forces with the phenomenal team at Netflix, led by Bela [Bajaria], Peter [Frielander] and Jinny,” she said, adding that she is “eager to continue pushing creative boundaries…”
US trade Deadline broke the news.
