Hungry Bear’s Katrina Grant joins BBCS-backed Mettlemouse to oversee development
BBC Studios-backed format production company Mettlemouse Entertainment has appointed former Hungry Bear exec Katrina Grant as director of development.
Grant is the former head of development at the Gladiators producer and at Mettlemouse will oversee the company’s development team, working closely with founder Sarah Tyekiff and creative director Shaun Parry.
Her credits at Hungry Bear also include The Wheel, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad, Freeze and The Fear with Wim Hof.
BBC Studios took a 25% stake in Mettlemouse in July 2023, shortly after the company was launched by Tyekiff, who was previously head of unscripted at All3Media-backed Lime Pictures.
In October, the firm was rehoused under the global entertainment arm at BBC Studios Productions, following a merger of the entertainment & music, fact-ent and events & international productions and formats teams.
UK-based Mettlemouse is focused on unscripted formats, with BBC Studios gaining a first-look on global distribution and format rights.
“Katrina has been heavily involved in some of the biggest shows of the past 10 years. Having entered into funded developments in such a short space of time, we’re thrilled to continue the momentum and get someone with Katrina’s expertise on board,” said Tyekiff.
