Amazon sets Tilly Ramsay cooking show & Biblical ‘House Of David’ drama in Tastemade & Wonder Project pacts
Amazon MGM Studios has struck a multiyear first-look deal with lifestyle brand Tastemade, and also formed a partnership with faith-based firm The Wonder Project.
The agreement with Tastemade will bring 15 new unscripted shows to streaming services Prime Video and Freevee over the next few years.
All content will be produced by Tastemade Studios, helmed by Taye Shuayb, global head of studios and content development. Programming will range from cooking competitions to travel shows and will be hosted by notable talent who are master storytellers across the food and entertainment space.
The first title to emerge from the partnership will be Dish It Out, hosted by TV personality, chef, and social media content creator Matilda “Tilly” Ramsay – also the daughter of multi-Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay.
In each episode, Tilly will receive a mystery box of goods from various chefs and home cooks around the world, piecing together the items in each box to create a globally inspired dish. The series has received a 32-episode order and production will begin in 2024 in Tastemade’s London studios.
“Tilly’s charm, exuberance, and ability to create memorable food experiences has already delighted her millions of followers, and we look forward to introducing her to a new audience of food, cooking, and lifestyle enthusiasts,” said Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD, unscripted, and targeted programming, Amazon MGM Studios.
Amazon Freevee also offers a number of Tastemade FAST channels, including Tastemade, Tastemade Travel, Tastemade Home and Tastemade en Español.
Faith-based scripted pact
Amazon MGM Studios has also partnered with the recently formed The Wonder Project. The independent studio, led by veteran producer Jon Erwin and entertainment executive Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten, will develop series and films rooted in spirituality for Prime Video under the new deal.
Dallas Jenkins, the creator and producer-director of The Chosen, is a large shareholder and special advisor to The Wonder Project. The first project from this collaboration, House Of David, has been ordered to series and is set to stream exclusively on Prime Video.
House Of David follows the once-mighty King Saul as he falls victim to his own pride. A prophet prepares to overthrow him – anointing the outcast shepherd boy David as a second king. As Saul’s fury grows, David navigates love, violence and politics in the court of the very man he’s destined to replace.
Produced by Nomadic Pictures and Argonauts, along with Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate Television, the series is based on an idea by Jon Erwin who also serves as an executive producer along with Chad Oaks, Mike Frislev, and Jonathan Walker. Justin Rosenblatt will serve as the executive in charge of production on behalf of The Wonder Project.
“When we met with Jon, Kelly, and Dallas, their clear and passionate vision for The Wonder Project and their ambition to nurture universal stories of love, triumph, and spirituality moved us.” said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios. “We are very excited about the scope, scale and storytelling involved with House Of David and look forward to sharing this epic and many others with our global Prime Video customers.”
