Free@Last TV to adapt David Nolan’s Manchester crime novels incl ‘Black Moss’
UK producer Free@Last TV is adapting David Nolan’s crime novels that explore Manchester’s underworld into a TV series.
The so-called ‘Manc Noir’ novels are a trilogy starting with Black Moss that tells the story of a historic crime that has haunted a shamed television presenter for decades and his return to solve the mystery years later.
Stuart Wright (Lair), who brought the books to Free@Last TV, is attached as writer.
Each book of the series, which also includes The Mermaid’s Pool and The Ballad Of Hanging Lees, will be developed as a three-part show.
Barry Ryan, joint creative director at Free@Last TV, said: “David’s novels are a unique blend of crime, culture, and character, and we are committed to staying true to the authenticity and intensity that make his work so compelling.”
