Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has appointed Alberto Carullo as VP of Max local original production in Italy and Iberia as the company gears up for the streamer’s launch in Spain and Portugal next year.

Currently serving as head of drama at Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) Spain, Carullo will take up his new post on 1 January. He will be responsible for the development and execution of local productions – both scripted and unscripted – for streaming in Spain, while also working on development projects for Italy.

Carullo will report to Laura Carafoli, SVP of content networks & streaming local productions, Italy & Iberia, who said that his “profile, experience and knowledge of the sector both in Iberia and Italy, represent an important added value for the growth and development of the streaming business in our region.”

Mediaset España alum and Big Bang Media founder Carullo joined WBITVP Spain in January to oversee content development and production in Spain and Latin America. His promotion follows yesterday’s appointment of former Garbo Stories CEO Stefano Torrisi as WBITVP’s new managing director in Iberia.

Carafoli added that Carullo’s arrival was “certainly strategic in view of Max’s debut in Iberia next spring, both to lay the foundations to build the best possible offer of local content and to maintain and strengthen the relationship with the creative community in both countries”.
