WBITVP hires ex-Garbo Stories CEO Stefano Torrisi to head up production in Spain & Portugal
Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) has appointed former Garbo Stories CEO Stefano Torrisi as its new managing director in Iberia, taking over production operations in Spain and Portugal from Sebastián Moguilevsky, who departs at the end of the year.
Torrisi replaces Moguilevsky, who announced he was stepping down last month after almost seven years in the role, to return to his home country of Argentina “for personal reasons”.
He arrives following an almost two-year stint as CEO and MD of Garbo Stories, the Spanish scripted division of Garbo Produzioni, the Italian prodco behind La Porta Rossa, which he exited in August.
The media veteran previously held senior positions at Europroducciones TV and as EVP of Banijay Italy and Banijay Group Spain, as well as serving as commercial director of Endemol Shone Italy from October 2014 to November 2017.
Torrisi takes charge of the team that is behind shows including First Dates for Mediaset, and local versions of international formats such as I Can See Your Voice and Kitchen Nightmares.
“We are delighted to announce Stefano’s appointment. He brings a wealth of experience to our operation and I have no doubt that we will go from strength to strength under his leadership. I would also like to thank Sebastian for his great contribution in building our business in Spain,” said Ronald Goes, EVP of production for WBITVP.
Warner Bros. Discovery has been rejigging its senior staff in Spain of late, with its VP & commissioning editor of original content Miguel Salvat departing amid a rejig of the company’s operations.
There have also been recent hires, with WBITVP Spain naming Mediaset España alum Alberto Carullo as head of drama at the start of the year. He had reported into Moguilevsky and oversees content development & production in Spain and Latin America.
