Telecinco takes ‘Dancing With The Stars’ back to Spain after five-year hiatus
Mediaset España’s Telecinco is taking Dancing With The Stars back into Spain for the first time in five years.
The entertainment format will be produced locally by Bulldog TV and is set to air on free-to-air Telecinco from 13 January. It will be hosted by local talents Jesús Vázquez and Valeria Mazza.
The format last aired in Spain in 2018 with TVE, where it was known as Bailando Con Las Estrellas and co-produced with Gestmusic Endemol.
It had previously been airing on TVE under the title ¡Mira Quién Baila! since 2014 and before that, was broadcast on Telecinco for four years. TVE had ordered the first remake in 2005.
The deal with format owner BBC Studios means the show has now been licensed to 61 territories, with recent series airing in the UK and the US.
Jaime Guerra, director of Mediaset España’s content production division, said it would “create an event” show around the “spectacular contest, starring well-known faces to Spanish audiences.”
The deal was brokered by Isabel Duran, format sales director at BBCS.
