Round up: Canal+, France TV snag ‘Tinka’; ABC orders true crime trio; First K-pop FAST launch
Canal+, France TV snag Tinka
France Télévisions and Canal+ have both picked up rights to APC Kids’ fantasy family series Tinka.
Pay TV operator Canal+ has taken the third season, along with Téléquébec in Canada, while season 2 has been acquired by France Télévisions and MTV in Hungary. APC has also sold the first season to ERR in Estonia.
The 72 x 26-minute live action saga is produced by Cosmo for TV2 in Denmark. APC Kids holds worldwide rights except Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany.
First K-pop FAST launch
South Korea’s Arirang TV has partnered with nascent Dutch outfit Static Waves to launch what is being billed as the first FAST channel focused on K-Pop.
K-Wave will launch in January via ZEASN platforms in the US, Europe and Asia, with the channel featuring exclusive content including original series and live concerts featuring the biggest K-pop stars in the world.
The first original sees Static Waves partnering with CJ ENM’s Mnet and RAPA (Korea Radio Promotion Association) to co-produce docuseries Choom Planet. It follows leading Korean K-Pop choreographer Baek Koo-young as he prepares for a special performance with a group of K-Pop fans in Europe.
Docs on K-pop stars exploring music and fashion will also be available, alongside dance instruction videos and behind-the-scenes clips.
Static Waves, which launched earlier this year, is setting up a Seoul-based division to funnel content to the channel. Veteran TV producer and director Andrew Jaehuyk Lee is MD of the Korean division.
ABC orders true crime trio
ABC News Studios in the US is prepping three true-crime docuseries for fellow Disney-owned streamer, Hulu.
Daughters Of The Cult, Me, Hereafter and the second season of Death In The Dorms mark the third true-crime slate release from ABC News Studios since its launch in 2022, joining shows such as Killing County.
ABC News Studios is led by Mike Kelley. Reena Mehta is SVP of streaming and digital content.
