Telecinco takes German format ‘Celebrity School’ back into Spain

Mediaset España’s Telecinco is remaking German format Celebrity School, marking the second Spanish adaptation of the format in three years.

The show is being produced by Banijay’s Cuarzo Producciones and sees four celebrities compete against groups of elementary, middle and high school-aged contestants in a series of games inspired by school subjects.It is being hosted by Christian Galvez.

The format was originally created by Banijay’s German label Brainpool, with the show airing for five seasons on Sat. 1.

It has also been produced in Argentina in 2022 and was previously adapted in Spain for Valencian broadcaster À Punt in 2020.

Lucas Green, chief content officer of operations at Banijay, added: “Celebrity School is an upbeat entertainment show where school meets fun. With a great reception from viewers in Europe and Lat AM, this format is very adaptable in different markets, tapping into the universality of school experiences and celebrity culture.”
