Starz to end crime drama ‘Hightown’ after third and final season

Starz is bringing the curtain down on crime drama Hightown, with a third and final season set to debut early next year.

The show was created and executive produced by Rebecca Cutter (Gotham), with Jerry Bruckheimer Television producing with Lionsgate TV.

Its third and final season will debut 26 January via the Starz app, before debuting on the linear network at 21.00 ET/PT. New episodes will be released weekly, with the first season set to be made available via the Starz streamer for free between 3 Jabuary and 5 February.

The story explores the intricacies of the drug and crime underworld and stars Monica Raymund, James Badge Dale and Riley Voelkel.

Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Kristie Anne Reed exec produce for Jerry Bruckheimer Television, alongside Ellen H. Schwartz, Gary Lennon and Tim Walsh.

Starz recently cut more than 10% of its staff ahead of its separation from Lionsgate next year,  in an “organisational restructure” that will see it exit the UK and Australia.

Lionsgate’s plans to sell or spin off Starz were first revealed in late 2021, barely five years since the studio acquired the company for $4.4bn, but the move has been delayed until early 2024 following the US company’s acquisition of Entertainment One.
