Denmark’s DR1 lands prime minister for local version of French format ‘The A Talks’
DR1 in Denmark has become the latest network to order a local version of Can’t Stop Media’s fast-travelling French format The A Talks.
The show, which initially launched in France as Les Rencontres du Papotin, is being produced in Denmark by Fremantle’s Strong Productions and will be known locally En Særlig Samtale, debuting 25 December.
The first two guests to be interviewed on the Danish show will be prime minister Mette Frederiksen and local singer, Thomas Helmig.
The A Talks was created by Quad+Ten and Kiosco TV for France 2, where it entered a second season in September. The show sees popular celebrities facing a group of 30 atypical journalists with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), who pose surprising, unpredictable, funny or poignant questions, allowing viewers to discover celebrities as they have never seen them before.
The format’s first adaptation was for Warner Bros Discovery’s TVN in Poland, while the Spanish version debuted earlier this week on Telecinco.
Warner Bros International TV Production (WBITVP) has also optioned the format in Flemish Belgium and the Netherlands, while Fremantle has rights in the Nordics (Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland) and Ballandi struck a deal in Italy.
Other options include Seapoint in Germany, Avanti in Quebec, Rockerdale Studios in the UK, Mark Fennessy’s Helium in Australia and New Zealand, Banijay in Portugal and Kite Entertainment in Ireland.
