News round-up: DR1 orders menopause show; Moonbug & Toikido play ‘PeaKeeBoo’; ESPN & Disney to tell Brittney Griner story
DR1 orders menopause show
The Danish Broadcasting Corporation has ordered factual series Welcome To the Menopause (Velkommen til Overgangsalderen) for flagship channel DR1 and catch-up service DRTV.
Produced by Pineapple Entertainment, the series follows researchers, everyday Danes, and some famous faces as they come together to shine a spotlight on the often overlooked topic of menopause.
Ole Rahbek, MD of Pineapple Entertainment, said: “We hope that this series will generate valuable conversations, provide information, and raise awareness amongst all demographics.”
Moonbug & Toikido play ‘PeaKeeBoo’
UK-based CoComelon firm Moonbug Entertainment and creative studio Toikido have partnered on PeaKeeBoo, a new animated pre-school series.
The world of PeaKeeBoo is full of the wonderous sounds and visuals of nature, and home to a range of unique characters who are united in their love of fun and zest for life.
Moonbug will produce the first season of PeaKeeBoo, which will be available globally on the Moonbug Kids YouTube Channel in 2024.
ESPN & Disney to tell Brittney Griner story
ESPN and Disney Entertainment Television have partnered with two-time Olympic gold medalist and nine-time WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner to share her story through various projects on their platforms.
A documentary feature from ESPN Films and scripted series development with ABC Signature are in the works, and she will sit down for her first exclusive interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts.
In February 2022, Griner was arrested at a Moscow airport for cannabis possession and later sentenced to nine years in prison. Despite outcries from the international sporting community and designation by the US government as wrongfully detained, Griner was held under harsh conditions and prevented from speaking with her family for nearly a year.
“The last two years have been the most harrowing, transformative and illuminating period of my life, and I am grateful to be in a place now to share my story with the world,” said Brittney Griner. “I’m proud to partner with ESPN and Disney to share this very personal story because of its incredible potential to inspire hope around the world and their proven ability to do just that.”
