Tracy Underwood succeeds Jonnie Davis as ABC Signature president
Disney-owned ABC Signature has appointed its EVP of creative affairs, Tracy Underwood, as president, following the exit of Jonnie Davis earlier this year.
In her new role, Underwood will oversee all creative affairs, including the studio’s development of drama, comedy and limited series, as well as the current series slate.
She will report to Eric Schrier, president of Disney Television Studios and global original TV strategy for Disney Entertainment and succeeds Davis, who stepped down in July, following four years in the role.
Underwood joined the studio in 2010, serving as VP of drama, and then in 2013 was appointed to establish a new division of ABC Studios, targeting the cable and streaming business. There she was responsible for shepherding series including Godfather Of Harlem for MGM+, SMILF for Showtime and Hulu shows Dollface, High Fidelity and Little Fires Everywhere.
Her other credits at the studio include Bad Sisters for Apple TV+, Fleishman Is In Trouble for FX and Tiny Beautiful Things for Hulu, as well as upcoming series Death And Other Details and Under The Bridge for Hulu, and High Potential for ABC.
Sydnee Rimes, SVP of series, will continue to lead the current series team, now reporting into Underwood, while Susan Lewis, SVP of drama development, and Danny Feldheim, SVP of comedy development, will continue to report into Underwood.
“As a proven leader at ABC Signature, Tracy has been an instrumental force behind the studio’s development of award-winning and culture-piercing series for over a decade. In this new role leading the studio, Tracy will build on her excellent relationships with our creative and platform partners to grow the studio’s legacy of producing undeniable television,” said Schrier.
