News round-up: Italy’s Serially buys Calinos drama; HBO Max snags RTVE dramas; Fuse runs into India’s Tata Play
Italy’s Serially buys Turkish drama
Italian scripted channel Serially has picked up Turkish drama Deeply (aka İlk ve Son) from Calinos Entertainment.
The eight-parter, to be known as Noi Dopo Di Noi in Italy, tracks a couple whose relationship started in their mid-20s and follows them as they evolve through “a decade of sunny and stormy times.”
It is written by Turkish writer Hakan Bonomo and originally debuted on Blu TV.
It will debut on Serially on 6 December and stars Ozge Ozpirincci (Woman) and Salih Bademci (The Club & Tailor).
HBO Max snags RTVE dramas
Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has picked up Spanish dramas La Promesa and Dos Vidas for HBO Max in Latin America.
La Promesa (aka The Promise) is set in 1912 and explores whether a woman who is set on revenge can overcome her feelings and fall in love.
Dos Vidas (aka Two Lives) is set in 1950’s Spanish Guinea and tracks the intersecting lives of a granddaughter and her grandmother. It is already available on HBO Max, which is set to rebrand to Max from 2024.
Fuse runs into India’s Tata Play
Latino-owned Fuse Media has struck a deal that will see its streamer beocme available on Tata Play Binge in India.
Fuse+, which recently launched on Roku and Prime Video in the US, will provide access to shows such as Big Freedia Means Business.
The service was launched in 2021 and features over 500 hours of original scripted and unscripted programming. It is already available in the country via OTTPlay in India.
All3Media to shop Nutopia’s Jesus Christ docu-drama
All3Media International has acquired international distribution rights to Nutopia’s upcoming docu-drama Jesus Crown Of Thorns (working title).
Directed by Hereward Pelling and produced in association with Fox Nation, filming begins in Morocco in February 2024.
The series reimagines Jesus Christ’s story as a political thriller that sets his life and mission in the context of the intense political backdrop in which he emerged as a revolutionary figure who dared to challenge the status quo.
