S4C in Wales has unveiled BlackLight Television’s six-part drama Cleddau (aka The One That Got Away), which will be shot in English and Welsh.

The show is set in the west Wales coastal town of Pembroke Dock and has been written by Catherine Tregenna (Law & Order UK), with Sion Ifan (Y Gyfrinach) directing.

The stroy tracks the shocking murder of a nurse, which opens old wounds in a small-town community and throws a historic conviction into doubt, raising the prospect of a copycat killer and reuniting two former lovers tasked with finding the killer.

Banijay-owned BlackLight is producing with its parent company’s sales arm, Banijay Rights, with a Welsh-language show for S4C slated to debut in late 2024. An English-language version will also be produced for international audiences, both distributed globally by the distirbution arm.

BlackLight was formed in 2017 by Ben Bickerton and Phil Trethowan, who worked together while producing film Ellen. They have also been behind shows including Being Human and Channel 4 anthology, On The Edge.
