Spacetoon Kids, the pan-Arab kids FTA channel, has acquired the first season of Australian animated hit Bluey, following a deal with BBC Studios Kids & Family.

Produced by Ludo Studio, in association with Screen Queensland and Screen Australia, the series follows Bluey, a loveable, inexhaustible, Blue Heeler dog, who lives with her mum, dad and her little sister, Bingo. Bluey uses her limitless energy to play games that unfold in unpredictable and hilarious ways, bringing her family and the whole neighbourhood into her world of fun.

Created by Joe Brumm, Bluey is jointly commissioned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and BBC Studios Kids & Family with BBC Studios owning international distribution and licensing rights outside Australia.

BBC Studios has also appointed Spacetoon International Agent as the licensing representative for Bluey, to oversee the expansion of the Bluey licensing programme in the Middle East.

Daisy Griffiths, BBC Studios senior licensing executive, EMEA, said: “We are delighted to partner with Spacetoon, working together to increase the presence of Bluey in the territory and grow Bluey’s fanbase in the Middle East in 2024.”

Earlier this month, it was announced that ABC has commissioned a special half-hour instalment of Bluey to debut on the network, and internationally via Mouse House streamer Disney+, next year.
