Sky Studios int’l scripted exec Jason Simms named MD at Cineflix’s Connect3
Connect3 (C3) Media, the Canadian production company behind Good Morning Chuck and Kings Of Coke, has appointed Sky Studios exec Jason Simms to the newly created role of managing director.
Simms will work with president Pablo Salzman to expand the company’s slate, identifying and developing new content via financing models including international co-productions and pre-sales.
He will join Cineflix Media-owned C3 in early November from Sky Studios, where he is director of international scripted programming.
His remit includes leading international partnerships and commercial strategy for Sky Studios’ dramas and comedies from the UK, Italy and Germany, as well as developing third-party scripted dramas for international platforms, and managing production and distribution relationships.
He was previously director of drama and comedy for Sky Vision, where he was responsible for editorial strategy and investment in its scripted slate, negotiating distribution deals for all incoming TV series, as well as securing partnerships with producer.
Prior to Sky, Simms was SVP of global acquisitions at Fox Network Group, closing deals for series such as The Walking Dead, Dexter, The Wire and Breaking Bad.
C3’s current and recent productions include So Long, Marianne, the upcoming drama series for Crave and NRK inspired by the love story of Leonard Cohen and Marianne Ihlen; the recent dramedy Good Morning Chuck (Or The Art Of Harm Reduction) for Crave; feature-length thriller Sugar for Prime Video and ZDF; and true crime documentaries Kings Of Coke and Cocaine, Around The World With 30 Kilos for Crave.
“C3’s success is built on bringing together talented creative people to develop, finance, and produce successful shows for the global market. Jason’s experience, skills and personality fit right into this model, and his joining the team will expand the business and help greenlight more fantastic content,” said Salzman.
