BBCS kids veteran Henrietta Hurford-Jones to depart
Henrietta Hurford-Jones, creative director for indies at BBC Studios Kids & Family, is exiting the company after more than 13 years.
During her time at the company, which is the production and distribution arm of UK pubcaster the BBC, she was responsible for developing and executive producing content for pre-schoolers and those in the seven-plus age group.
Among her most significant co-commissions was Australian animated hit Bluey, which she executive produced, as well as titles including Hey Duggee and Supertato.
According to Kidscreen, which first reported the news of Hurford-Jones’s departure, she will exit BBC Studios in late January 2024.
The publication quoted Hurford-Jones, who said: “From February 2024, after nearly 14 great years with BBC Studios, I’m taking a few months off to recharge the batteries.”
Prior to BBC Studios, she spent two and a half years as director of international kids & family for RDF Rights and more than four and a half years as director of European programming at Jetix Europe (formerly Fox Kids). From 1994 to 2000, Hurford-Jones was head of sales for HIT Entertainment.
