Canada’s CBC expands FAST with comedy channel carrying ‘Schitt’s Creek’, ‘Kim’s Convenience’
Canadian broadcaster CBC has launched a new FAST channel carrying original comedy series, sketch shows and stand-up specials.
CBC Comedy has been rolled out onto streamer CBC Gem and will also launch on LG Channels, The Roku Channel and Samsung TV Plus later this autumn.
It will carry shows including Kim’s Convenience and Schitt’s Creek, as well as Run The Burbs and Son Of A Critch, plus sketch and stand-upwith TallBoyz and Baroness von Sketch Show. Stand-up specials are also on offer.
The newest seasons of ongoing CBC comedies will continue to stream exclusively on CBC Gem but Sally Catto, general manager for entertainment, factual & sports, said the FAST channel would become “our new go-to destination” for comedy.
CBC already offers FAST channels including CBC News Explore, while a West Coast service – CBC News BC – will launch next year.
