Actors union SAG-AFTRA to resume talks with AMPTP on Monday
With the US writers strike now over, actors union SAG-AFTRA has confirmed it is to resume talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on Monday.
SAG-AFTRA’s strike means that despite the Writers Guild of America’s deal with the AMPTP earlier this week, most series are still not headed back into production.
The actors union confirmed talks would resume on 2 October, adding that “several executives from AMPTP member companies” would be in attendance.
That alludes to the input of Disney’s Bob Iger, NBCUniversal’s Donna Langley, Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav and Netflix’s Ted Sarandos in the WGA strike, with their input reportedly speeding up a settlement.
SAG-AFTRA has been on strike since 14 July, with its 160,000 members downing tools and not attending promotion events.
The union also recently confirmed it would be striking against 10 video game companies.
