Disney becomes latest to suspend talent deals with ‘The Bear’s Hiro Murai & This Is Us trio affected
Disney has joined NBCUniversal and CBS Studios in suspending overall and first-look deals with its talent, as the US writers strike nears its fifth month.
This Is Us trio Mandy Moore, Justin Hartley and Milo Ventimiglia have all had their deals paused, along with Hiro Murai (The Bear).
It is again non-writing producers who are mainly affected by the latest move, with those working for divisions including ABC Signature, Disney TV Studios, Disney Branded TV, FX Productions and 20th television all impacted.
NBCU’s Universal Studio Group, which houses Universal Television, Universal Content Productions and Universal Pictures, suspended deals with its non-writing producers including Dwayne Johnson earlier this week, alongside CBS Studios.
It emerged last week that Warner Bros. Discovery’s TV division has suspended overall deals with talent including Greg Berlanti and JJ Abrams last week, affecting Greg Barlenti, JJ Abrams, Ted Lasso‘s Bill Lawrence, Maid’s John Wells and Sex Lives Of College Girls‘ Mindy Kaling.
The deals have, however, not been cancelled because the studios will need to get production up and running quickly once agreements are struck and strikes end.
