Canada’s Wind Sun Sky hires BBC & Disney alum Jo Redfern to head up kids expansion
Canadian multimedia company Wind Sun Sky Entertainment has appointed former BBC exec Jo Redfern to the newly created role of managing director, kids.
Redfern will be responsible for expanding the company into the kids’ media business with a focus on the recently announced Future Chicken, an eco-initiative for kids combating climate concerns and empowering youngsters to make a difference.
She will serve as the strategic driver behind franchise development, gaming and video production, and content distribution. Her purview extends to overseeing the Future Chicken YouTube channel, Roblox games and educational collaborations with non-profit partner The Ontario Water Center.
Redfern will be based at the company’s headquarters in Vancouver, with day-to-day oversight of the kids’ content team, and will report directly to CEO & EP Catherine Winder.
Redfern previously spent several years as head of brand in the BBC Children’s & Education division, and served as global head of brand for 24 Watts, where she adapted robotics-based IP Cozmo into multi-platform edutainment initiative ‘Cozmo & Friends’.
She began her career as a marketing manager for the Peppa Pig franchise and has also held key brand and marketing positions at media companies including Disney.
“Redfern’s extensive experience in the children’s media and digital cross platform landscape is an exciting addition to our team as we continue to innovate at the intersection of technology and storytelling,” said Catherine Winder, CEO of Wind Sun Sky Entertainment.
