UKTV’s Dave ties with Korea’s Something Special for ‘Battle In The Box’
UKTV channel Dave has commissioned its first Korean format with a local version of Korean gameshow Battle In The Box.
The format was created by Korea’s NMedia and was picked up by UK-based producer Interstellar in April, following a deal with Something Special. An 8 x 60-minute show has now been ordered, to be fronted by Jimmy Carr.
The comedy reality gameshow sees two pairs of comics and celebrities living in a completely empty box – divided by a moveable wall with nothing but a toothbrush – for 24 hours.
Once inside, they only have cameras and each other for company, and must earn everything by winning a series of physical and mental challenges all set by host, Carr.
Winning a game means more space and luxuries for one duo, but more room for one team means less for the losers, as the box’s sliding wall forces them into an ever-smaller space. And, with games set around the clock, the tide – and the wall – can turn at any time.
The show will also be available on UKTV Play and has been commissioned by UKTV quartet Mark Iddon, Jason Dawson, Cherie Hall and Hilary Rosen.
Executive producers are Jamie Ormerod and David Williams and the series producer is Tom Corrigan. Filming starts next month and contestants will be announced nearer to transmission on Dave and UKTV Play.
Battle In The Box ha sbeen slated to debut next year, joining returning UKTV originals including Big Zuu’s Big Eats, David Mitchell’s Outsiders and Meet The Richardsons.
