Apple TV+ preps another Lionel Messi docuseries from Smuggler Entertainment

Apple TV+ has picked up another Lionel Messi docuseries, this time tracking the footballer as he makes his debut in Major League Soccer in the US.

The untitled six-parter is from Smuggler Entertainment, which was previously behind a four-part show for Apple that explored Messi’s five appearances at FIFA World Cup tournaments including the 2022 success with Argentina.

The new show tracks the early days of his career at Inter Miami FC, which he joined earlier this year following a short spell at Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona before that.

Tim Pastore (Free Solo) exec produces with fellow Smuggler execs Patrick Milling Smith, Brian Carmody and Matt Renner (Limitless). Scott Boggins (The Circus) is also attached, with the series being produced in association with Major League Soccer.

Apple agreed an exclusive rights deal with Major League Soccer earlier this year that allows subscribers in more than 100 countries to watch matches from the competition via a ‘season pass’ subscription.
