Fremantle’s Joni Day exits after decade to join Apploff Entertainment
LA-based production company Apploff Entertainment has landed Fremantle exec Joni Day as its EVP of entertainment.
She will create, develop, sell and produce formats across all media, reporting to president & CEO Jeff Apploff, with whom she worked on Game Of Talents for Fox.
Day has spent the past decade as SVP of alternative programming at Fremantle, where she led development and production of global unscripted content, including reality competitions and game shows. Her credits include Supermarket Sweep, Match Game and To Tell The Truth for ABC.
She also executive produced kids shows Double Dare and Unleashed on Nickelodeon, and relaunched veteran gameshow Password on NBC last year.
Before that, Day worked at Mark Burnett Productions and was a freelance producer, on shows such as Jeopardy!, Wheel Of Fortune and Paris Hilton’s My New BFF.
Apploff said: “Having had the good fortune to work with her on Game Of Talents, I have witnessed firsthand her unmatched drive and innovative approach to developing fresh content. She is a creative force with a stellar reputation, and we’re so thrilled to have her on board.”
Day added: “I’ve always admired Jeff because he’s a quadruple threat, a shiny floor unicorn who can create, develop, sell and produce. He’s a gifted leader who inspires confidence and excellence in his team, consistently infusing joy and fun into the job.”
Apploff’s output includes gameshow Fox’s We Are Family, Latin-inspired series Loteria Loca for CBS, as well as formats such as Beat Shazam.
