Mediawan acquires Paris ‘Black Box’ prodco 24 25 Films
French production and distribution group Mediawan has acquired Paris-based Black Box producer 24 25 Films.
Mediawan took a majority stake in the company which was founded and led by producers Thibault Gast and Matthias Weber, and is also behind features such as A Perfect Man, Promises and Scribe. Their latest production, the action-comedy Cash, directed by Jérémie Rozan and starring Raphaël Quenard, Agathe Rousselle and Igor Gotesman, has been available on Netflix since 6 July.
With this new acquisition, Mediawan said that aims to keep building its theatrical feature activity, with 24 25 Films joining a stable that includes Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Brad Pitt’s Plan B, Hugo Sélignac’s Chi-Fou-Mi, Dimitri Rassam’s Chapter 2, Nicola Serra’s Palomar and Clément Miserez’s Radar Films.
“As we are now developing projects for new formats such as TV series and animation, joining Mediawan is an opportunity for us to partner with a powerful and ambitious group, which will enable us to provide the best possible support for our talents, and to drive our projects to the highest level in France, as well as internationally”, said Thibaut Gast and Matthias Weber.
Elisabeth d’Arvieu, MD of Mediawan Pictures, added that 24 25 Films’ “catalog is rich in both demanding and popular projects, and the projects they develop carry the promise of great success. We are keen to support them in their future development, particularly in TV series and animation, and we are convinced that our partnership will be very successful.”
