Shine Iberia Portugal creates MD role for exec producer Helder Marques

Shine Iberia Portugal has promoted executive producer Helder Marques to the newly created role of managing director.

Reporting to Macarena Rey, CEO of Shine Iberia, Spain and Portugal, and Endemol Portugal, Marques will be responsible for overseeing all of Shine Iberia Portugal’s output, which the company said averages ten formats produced each year.

Banijay-owned Shine Iberia Portugal is behind entertainment and factual formats, including local versions of Banijay titles such as MasterChef and The Voice.

Marques has until now been serving as an in-house exec producer at the company on shows including Hell’’s Kitchen, Missao: 100% Português, MasterChef Portugal and The Voice Portugal.

He first joined the company in 2012 as a production manager, having previously worked at Endemol producing titles including Big Brother and Fear Factor.

Prior to Endemol, he was part of the founding team at CBV Produções Televisivas, where he led shows like Quem Quer Ser Milionário – Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Top Chef and A Voz de Portugal – The Voice for RTP, as well as Atreve-te a Cantar and À Procurando Sonho for SIC.

“For more than a decade, Helder has demonstrated outstanding management skills, effective problem-solving and he has solid experience as an executive producer. Creating this new role reflects Shine Iberia’s ambition for continued, sustained growth in Portugal,” said Rey.
