‘The Wheel’ stops spinning at NBC after one season
NBC has cancelled its US remake of UK gameshow The Wheel after just one season.
The format was created and hosted by British comedian Michael McIntyre, who also hosted the UK version for the BBC, with the 10-part US edition created by his Hungry McBear label in collaboration with Warner Horizon.
Airing over two weeks on NBC in December 2022 in a primetime Thursday night slot, The show featured celebrity guests, including Christina Ricci, Tony Hawk, and Margaret Cho, doing their best to help everyday contestants to win $100,000.
While the show has done well in the UK for the BBC, it was not a ratings performer for NBC, peaking with 2.23m viewers for its penultimate episode.
Warner Unscripted Television president Mike Darnell exec produced the series, alongside McIntyre and Brooke Karzen, as well as Hungry Bear Media founder Dan Baldwin.
