Paris-based Giant Steps Production, the theatrical feature focused firm founded by independent producer Jules Boyer last year, has acquired Jean-Francois LePetit’s firm Flach Film Production.

The scripted and unscripted outfit, which was launched by LePetit in 2010, is behind historical, political and artistic documentaries including William Karel’s Le Monde Selon Bush.

Sylvette Frydman, producer at Flach Film Production since 1998, has meanwhile developed numerous dramas, most recently the collection Les Mystères De… for France Télévisions.

Giant Steps, meanwhile, is a genre film production company founded in 2022, currently in development on several projects, including a first film due for theatrical release in late 2023.

“I wish to preserve the quality and diversity of Flach Film Productions’ programs, with the current team and Sylvette Frydman, but also to develop universes of fiction and documentaries, intended for all channels and all platforms, and to federate new talents as producers, scriptwriters and directors,” said Boyer.

“I’m delighted that a young producer is taking over the energy and skills of the Flach Film Production team,” added LaPetit. “I wish him every success and look forward to his ambition to continue the adventure with his talent and innovative spirit.”

LaPetit’s other documentary work includes Au Cœur De La Maison Blanche Barak Obama, Salman Rushdie, LA Mort Aux Trousses, and, under the direction of Sylvette Frydman, scripted titles Le Temps Du Silence, Arletty Une Passion Coupable, Des Roses En Hiver, and most recently the collection Les Mystères De… for France Télévisions, including Les Mystères De La Duchesse and Les Mystères De La Chorale.
