WBITVP closes Danish arm as CEO Fredrik Hillerbrand departs

Warner Bros International Television Production (WBITVP) is restructuring its operations in the Nordics, with Danish CEO Fredrik Hillerbrand departing.

WBITVP’s Danish division will be shuttered and future productions overseen from its Sweden office, by local MD Johan Idering, who also oversees Norway. Shows in production are not expected to be affected.

Hillerbrand will leave the company later this year following a seven-year stint at the company, which he joined from Strong Productions (fka Strix).

The closure follows 18 months of turmoil in the Danish production market, which all but shut down last year when creatives and streamers clashed over remuneration. The country has also recently introduced a streamer tax to fuel local production.

Ronald Goes, EVP & head of WBITVP, said the decision to close the Danish division had been “made with a heavy heart” but added that it was necessary because of the “massive decline in work in the Danish production industry.”
