Clapperboard to adapt ‘Two Foreskins Walked Into A Bar’ podcast
UK scripted label Clapperboard Studios has secured the TV rights to Uncut, an adaptation of Chris Thompson’s semi-autobiographical podcast Two Foreskins Walked Into A Bar.
The series follows British playwright Chris Thompson as he heads to New York City having blown up his 10-year relationship and with his career going down the toilet. After he arrives, he meets Lionel, and falls unexpectedly and crazily in love. But when Lionel disappears without a trace, Chris embarks on a manhunt to track him down and reunite.
It’s a mystery that takes him on a journey of outrageous sexual liberation and self-discovery, propelling him through the cruising grounds, libraries and sex clubs of New York. Every man he meets brings him a step closer to finding the truth of what’s happened to his beloved Lionel. Along the way Chris faces up to the harsh realities of city life and the limitations of his own desires.
Thompson has already developed the Two Foreskins Walk Into A Bar podcast into a live one-man-show of the same name that will soon be adapted for stage.
The Uncut TV series will be developed by Clapperboard Studios, which was launched by iZen, the producer-owned content group, in 2020 and headed up by Mike Benson, who also serves as MD of UK indie Chalkboard. Since its launch, Clapperboard has delivered 14 series, incuding titles such as The Teacher, The Holiday, The Ex Wife, and Maxine.
“Uncut is beautifully filthy and has an energy and authenticity which really excited us. Chris is a unique talent and voice and brings a combination of heartbreak and hilarity to everything he writes,” said Clapperboard MD and exec producer Benson.
