NBCU & JioCinema deal brings ‘Young Rock’ & ‘Bel-Air’ to India
Reliance-owned Indian broadcaster Viacom18 is continuing to expand its US content offering, after striking a deal with NBCUniversal to add thousands of hours of TV and film content to its JioCinema streaming service.
The new programming will live in a Peacock branded hub starting next month on JioCinema’s newly announced JioCinema Premium SVOD tier. NBCUniversal brands covered in the deal include Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios, Universal Television Alternative Studio, Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Pictures, Focus Features and Bravo.
This latest deal follows the agreement struck by JioCinema with Warner Bros. Discovery last month to bring HBO and Warner Bros content, such as Succession and Game Of Thrones to the service.
This new agreement will give JioCinema viewers access to first-run series like Young Rock, a comedy about wrestler-turned-movie star Dwayne Johnson; action thriller The Lazarus Project; and The Lovers, a darkly romantic comedic drama.
Indian audiences can also enjoy Peacock originals including Bel-Air; Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin and The Calling, while NBCU library series include Downton Abbey, Suits, The Office, Parks and Recreation and The Mindy Project.
Unscripted shows in the deal, meanwhile, also include The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules, Family Karma and The Gentle Art Of Swedish Death Cleaning.
On the movie side are recent titles such as DreamWorks Animation’s Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, and the sci-fi horror film M3GAN, while Fast X and The Super Mario Bros. Movie are to be added in future.
