Peter Chernin’s North Road invests in Peyton Manning’s ‘King Of Collectibles’ label Omaha Productions
Peter Chernin’s The North Road Company has acquired a minority stake in Omaha Productions, the US label set up by NFL quarterback Peyton Manning.
Included in the deal is a multi-year agreement covering the development, production and distribution of scripted and unscripted programming.
Netflix docuseries The King Of Collectibles: The Goldin Touch, which debuted in April, was the first project to come out of the new partnership. The show, which is executive produced by Omaha Productions and North Road-owned Words + Pictures, follows memorabilia dealer Ken Goldin and his team at Goldin Auctions.
The Chernin Group investment firm, co-founded by Peter Chernin, is an investor in Goldin Auctions and will also become a strategic partner to Omaha Productions to help its expansion.
Rapid expansion
Omaha Productions is the latest investment move for The North Road Company, which launched last year and took immediate ownership of Red Arrow Studios’ North American production firms in a $200m deal.
The company, which is backed by US private equity firms Providence Equity Partners and Apollo, houses Love Is Blind and Married At First Sight prodco Kinetic Content, as well as 44 Blue Productions, which was behind A&E’s Wahlburgers and Fox’s First Responders Live.
It is also home to Half Yard Productions, which produces Say Yes To The Dress for TLC, Dorsey Pictures and Left/Right, whose output includes FX and Hulu doc, Framing Britney Spears.
In February, North Road secured $150m from The Qatar Investment Authority, amid reports that It was looking to further expand its capabilities by acquiring a stake in ITV Studios.
Strengthened collaboration
Omaha Productions and Words + Pictures are also in development on a documentary for Amazon Prime Video about Eric Reed, the man who trained Rich Strike, the horse that won the 2022 Kentucky Derby.
The two companies have previously worked together on shows including Monday Night Football With Peyton And Eli, NFL Honors and The ESPY Awards, while Omaha Productions has also teamed up with NFL Films and Patrick Mahomes’ 2PM Productions to produce NFL: Quarterback for Netflix.
“This partnership formalizes and strengthens that relationship and will support Omaha’s growth into new business categories. Peyton is committed to excellence, and we look forward to starting this new chapter together,” said Chernin.
