Fremantle to shop ‘Bardot’

Fremantle has acquired global distribution rights for Bardot, a documentary feature about the iconic international actress Brigitte Bardot.

Offering unique and exclusive access to Bardot, the 1 x 90-minute film from Featuristic Films and Timpelpictures reveals never before seen archive footage and exclusive interviews, and is set to premiere on TF1 in France later this year.

The feature documentary will include interviews from those whose lives and careers were impacted by Bardot such as Pamela Anderson, Paul Watson, Claude Lelouch, Allain Bougrain-Dubourg, and Jean-Max Rivière.

Céire Clark, senior acquisitions manager, international, at Fremantle said: “Not only does this documentary look at the cinematic journey of Brigitte Bardot but it also delves into her fascinating personal life whilst allowing us to hear her present reflections on poignant, sometimes controversial moments in her life.”

Sheffield DocFest line-up

UK factual festival Sheffield DocFest has announced its full programme for its upcoming 30th edition.

Taking place from 14-19 June, stand-out sessions will include It’s Real! The Documentary Film Council Open Assembly: Shaping the Future of UK Documentary Together and The D-Word: Why Disability Inclusion Doesn’t Have To Be Difficult including speakers from UKTV, BBC.

Meet the Commissioners: Broadcasters will meanwhile feature participants from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky, while Meet the Commissioners: Streamers inncludes Netflix, Prime Video and Disney (Nat Geo + Starz).

Oscar-winning filmmaker, Kevin Macdonald has meanwhile been confirmed as mentor for the Filmmaker Challenge, while there will be four pitch sessions for emerging filmmakers: The Whickers Pitch, Channel 4 First Cut Pitch, BBC Storyville Development Pitch and The Podcast Pitch.

OUTtv double order

LGBTQ+ TV & streaming service OUTtv has commissioned two new original series – heartfelt dramedy We Three Queens, and documentary I Work From Home. 

In addition, OUTtv has acquired weekly competition series The Gold Rush and renewed six of its hit series for additional seasonsincluding Drag Heals for season four, Pride for season five, and Behind the Drag Queen of the Year Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition, Dr. Jackie, Sugar Highs and Dating Unlocked all for a second season.

Scripted short form series We Three Queens (5 x 5-minutes) is produced by Thomas Rees and Michael Young and follows two young people and a scrappy older woman living together.

OUTspoken: I Work from Home, produced by Border2Border Entertainment, meanwhile, is a 1 x 60-minute documentary focusing on how sites like OnlyFans have destabilized the traditional production, distribution and monetization of X-rated entertainment.
