Sony extends first window deal with Sky for UK & Ireland
Sony Pictures Television series such as The Good Doctor and S.W.A.T. are to remain available via Sky in the UK & Ireland after the European pay-TV outfit agreed a multi-year extension of its first pay window agreement.
The continuation of the existing deal will bring more than 600 hours of TV and film content from across the Sony Pictures library to Sky Cinema and Sky Entertainment customers.
Other titles featured in the deal include Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Gran Turismo, Equalizer 3, and the next instalment of the Ghostbusters franchise, as well upcoming feature films in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters such as Kraven the Hunter, El Muerto and Madame Web.
Sky Cinema customers will also continue to have access to an existing selection of Sony films, including from the Jumanji, Men In Black, Bad Boys, and Karate Kid franchises. Sky Entertainment customers will meanwhile have access to future seasons of Sony TV series.
Sky is also the European home to popular US content from HBO, with which it is also expected to extend to its output deal, despite owner Warner Bros. Discovery’s planned roll-out of its new Max streamer in Europe. The current agreement, which places shows such as Succession and House Of the Dragon on its services in Europe, is due to expire in 2025.
Speaking in August last year, Sky director of programming, Jamie Morris, said that the deal would continue “one way or another”.
