Telefe returns ‘Survivor’ to Argentina

Argentinian broadcaster Telefe has returned Banijay adventure reality format Survivor to the territory after 22 years.

 Titled Survivor, Expedición Robinson, this new version follows the two-season adaptation that aired on Canal 13 in 2000 and 2001.

This latest deal in Latin America follows recent news of Survivor’s return to RCN in Colombia after a 15-year hiatus, while in the UK Remarkable Entertainment – a Banijay UK company – is set to produce a new version for BBC One and BBC iPlayer to air this year.

Wheelhouse DNA & Frederator tea with Adam W

Wheelhouse DNA, the digital-first and influencer arm of media, marketing and investment company, Wheelhouse, and Frederator Studios, have partnered with comedy star Adam Waheed on the development and production of a new, adult animated series.

This deal marks the first partnership between Frederator and Wheelhouse DNA, and the debut of Waheed (aka Adam W) writing and starring in a series.

Set in ancient Egypt where the gods are real, aliens built the pyramids and the afterlife exists, the 10-episode series follows a lovable royal buffoon (Waheed) who finds himself suddenly thrust onto the throne.

“This project delves into the mysteries of one of the world’s most captivating cultures and brings it to life in a modern way that is both enlightening and entertaining,” said Wheelhouse DNA MD Fanny Baudry.

C5 seeks ‘The Hunted’

Paramount-owned UK comcaster Channel 5 has ordered The Hunted (working title), a primetime thriller from Story Films.

The 4 x 60-minute series follows the story of a young, single mother and her young son. They’re on the poverty line, but she works all hours of the day as a cleaner to give him the best life she can. When she is hired as an exclusive cleaner by a wealthy client, the woman uncovers a dark secret.

Kara Tointon heads the cast, alongside Charlie Hodson-Prior and Allen Leech.

Sebastian Cardwell, deputy CCO at Paramount UK said: “Equipped with a compelling script and stellar cast, The Hunted is another exciting addition to our ever-growing drama slate.”
