Sky Studios Deutschland makes double hire for scripted expansion
Sky Studios Deutschland has appointed Julia Rappold as senior executive producer and Stella Flicker as executive producer, as the company increases its investment in German scripted.
Rappold will take responsibility for the production and delivery of Sky Studios’ scripted original slate across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, when she joins in October.
Prior to joining Sky Studios, Rappold worked as a producer at Lieblingsfilm, where she developed and oversaw film and TV projects including the comedy Beckenrand Sheriff, the war drama Das Glaszimmer and family drama Familie is nich.
She began her career at German Films before joining FFF Bayern in 2006, the Bavarian film and TV funding organisation, where she expanded the funding available for up-and-coming talent and held co-responsibility for cinema funding.
Flicker, meanwhile, joined Sky Studios earlier this year, having previously served as a producer at Letterbox Filmproduktion, overseeing and developing projects including courthouse-drama Conti and the long-running weekly TV crime show Notruf Hafenkante.
In her role as executive producer at Sky Studios Deutschland, Flicker will work across indie-commissioned projects as well as projects developed and produced in-house.
Both Rappold and Flicker will report to Tobias Rosen, VP, Sky Studios Deutschland.
The company’s slate includes comedy Die Wespe, action series Drift: Partners in Crime, and returning shows Der Pass, Das Boot and Babylon Berlin.
“As we look to expand the range of our slate from tentpole juggernaut series like Das Boot, to contemporary German series like KraNK Berlinand Garten Eden, I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Julia and Stella to Sky Studios,” said Rosen.
