Jeffrey Glaser exits Sony Pictures TV Studios, Marie Jacobsen to lead current programming
Jeffrey Glaser is exiting his role as Sony Pictures Television Studios’ EVP of current programming after six years.
Marie Jacobson, who has co-led the current programming department alongside Glaser since November, will take over as sole head following his departure in June.
Glaser joined the company as EVP and head of current in September 2017, coming to share responsibility with Jacobson in November 2022 after Sony closed down the Gemstone Studios label that she lead.
During his six years with the studio, Glaser worked on titles including The Boys, The Wheel Of Time, For All Mankind, Cobra Kai and Better Call Saul.
Prior to Sony, Glaser oversaw current programming for 20th Century Fox TV, leading the department from launch in 2003 through to 2015. During his tenure, he served as SVP, and then later EVP, working on shows including Glee, Modern Family, 24, The X Files and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
News of Glaser’s departure was announced in an internal memo to staff from Sony Pictures Television Studios president Katherine Pope, who wrote that: “After a 30+ year career in entertainment, Jeffrey had been considering a change and determined that now felt like the right time to begin a new chapter.
“Jeffrey has been an incredibly valuable member of our team and will be greatly missed, but I know we all will fully support his decision.”
Former Spectrum Originals exec Pope was appointed as president in July 2022, following the exit of Jeff Frost, with Glaser’s exit coming as she has worked to establish her executive team, including the hiring of Colin Davis, former head of scripted originals for the Roku Channel, to lead comedy, last month.
