Spanish production outfit Boomerang TV has reshuffled its senior team, with Jorge Pezzi named CEO and co-founders Pedro Ricote and Juan José Diaz stepping back.

Pezzi, who founded Madrid-based prodco LaCoproductora in 2018, will replace Ricote and Diaz, who founded Boomerang almost 25 years ago.

The move is part of a push by Boomerang’s owner, Mediawan, to put more focus on expanding its Spanish-language output. The group already owns Veranda TV, Weekend Studio and Good Mood.

Pezzi has been behind a raft of shows at Grupo Prise-backed LaCoproductora, including Movistar+’s El Cielo Puede Esperar and Por H O Por B, the HBO hit that was recently acquired by SkyShowtime.

Mediawan Pictures CEO, Elisabeth d’Arvieu, and its chairwoman in Spain, Monica Galer, thanked Ricote and Diaz, adding: “Spain is a key territory for Mediawan and we are thrilled to start a new era of creation and production with Jorge Pezzi’s arrival.”

Ricote and Díaz added: “We are proud of everyone in the Boomerang TV team. It would not have been possible to build the company over the past 25 years… without them. It has offered us the chance to contribute and foster the development of the Spanish audiovisual industry and [support] its growth.”
