Marvel Studios veteran Victoria Alonso makes shock exit
Marvel Studios veteran Victoria Alonso has exited the Disney-owned media giant after more than 15 years.
Alonso joined in 2006 as EVP of visual effects and post-production and served as co-producer on the earliest Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including Iron Man and Captain America: The First Avenger.
She has executive produced every Marvel Studios film and TV show since 2012’s The Avengers, including recent Disney+ productions such as Loki, WandaVision, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.
Despite her sudden exit over the weekend, she is also credited as producer on upcoming Disney+ series like Secret Invasion, Echo and Agatha: Coven Of Chaos.
Alonso was promoted to EVP of production in 2015 and upped to president of physical, post-production, VFX and animation in 2021. In this role, she oversaw all of Marvel’s post-production, including VFX work.
Visual effects in the most recent Marvel movie Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania have come under criticism and critical reception for the film was more negative than previous MCU features, with this third instalment in the Ant-Man franchise falling short of box office expectations.
Last year’s She-Hulk: Attorney At Law series on Disney+ also received criticism around the VFX used to bring the titular character to life.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported news of Alonso’s exit.
