Spain’s Mediacrest adds Berta Orozco as head of international sales and co-productions

Berta Orozco

Independent Spanish production company Mediacrest is powering up its international department with Berta Orozco as new head of international sales and co-productions.

The executive, with thirteen years of experience in content distribution and international co-productions, will report to Emma García, VP of international sales at Mediacrest. Orozco will attend Series Mania Forum next week in her new position.

Previously, the executive worked for three years as senior manager of sales and co-productions at ViacomCBS International Studios, a division of Paramount. Orozco also spent several years as a sales executive for Caracol Television and TV Azteca. During that time she accumulated a wide knowledge of TV markets in Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa.

Founded in 2018, Mediacrest produces the Spanish version of ITV Studios’s quiz show The Chase for RTVE, including the primetime spin-off Beat the Chasers. The Barcelona and Madrid-based company is developing a slate of scripted series for the international market, such as 17Khz, an eco-thriller with Finland’s YLE and Reelmedia already on board, and Nautilus, a six-part thriller based on real events in co-production with Dynamo for ViX+, the streaming platform by TelevisaUnivision.

Also, in 2022, Mediacrest and Chilean company María Wood Producciones signed an agreement with Fremantle to co-develop thriller series La Profe, about a former FARC member in Colombia who travels to Spain to save her granddaughter from the hands of a criminal band.

Mediacrest has just received the greenlight from RTVE to produce Demokracia, a Conecta FICTION winning project set in the 1970s in Spain, following the steps of one of the first policewomen in the country.
