Paramount Pictures & Nickelodeon Studios COO steps down

Top Gun: Maverick

Paramount Pictures & Nickelodeon Studios COO Andrew Gumpert is exiting the company.

Gumpert joined Paramount Pictures as COO in 2017 and expanded his role to add Nickelodeon Studios in March 2022. During his time with the company he played an “integral role” working on franchises including Mission: Impossible, PAW Patrol, Top Gun: Maverick and Star Trek.

Prior to Paramount, he served as president of worldwide business affairs and operations for the Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.

Following his exit, Courtney Armstrong, president of business affairs and administration, will assume his responsibilities in strategic planning and labor relations, while studio group president Randall Baumberger will oversee studio operations.

Studio boss Brian Robbins revealed Gumpert’s exit in a memo this week, in which he praised the outgoing exec for having “successfully strengthened our relationships across all aspects of our business – overseeing negotiations with our strategic, creative, and financial partners and licensees, and collaborating with our teams to expand and evolve our revenue sources.”

Gumpert told colleagues: “Together, we have achieved amazing things, and I will always be grateful for your partnership. I’ve been contemplating the next chapter of my career and I’m excited to figure out what’s next. I am confident that this organization will continue to lead the industry.”
