Sweden’s TV4 rejigs management with content chief Åsa Sjöberg departing

Swedish broadcaster TV4 has overhauled its senior management team as it extends its focus on streaming, with veteran content chief Åsa Sjöberg among those stepping down amid the reshuffle.

The changes, which follow the appointment of Mathias Berg as CEO to replace Casten Almqvist, are part of the company’s moves to “tie TV4’s content closer to users and continue our digital transformation”, the broadcaster said.

Sjöberg is departing after almost 25 years with TV4, having most recently held the role of content director for the group since 2015.

Her remit is being taken on by Fredrik Arefalk, who becomes channel & content director for TV4 in Sweden, with a remit that includes oversight of all programming for the network and streamer TV4Play.

Johannes Leppänen has been named president & CEO of TV4’s Finnish network MTV, as well as head of TV and media in the country, while Henri Caddeo is chief technology officer.

Other changes see Malin Häger named Nordic ad sales director; Markus Illukka becomes head of Nordic wholesale and partnerships; and Jannike Croona Broman is head of Nordic operations and insights.

Berg said: “We are taking the next step in our journey of change and increasing the pace of digitisation. The most important task for my new management team will be to bring Sweden together on TV4 Play.”
